The
City of Frankfort Fire & Emergency Medical
Services (EMS) operate from four fire stations covering four
districts. These fire
stations are strategically staffed with 87 personnel divided into three
working shifts. Six of those personnel are Staff firefighters. The city of Frankfort covers 22 square miles.
Each shift consists of 27 personnel that work a 24 hour shift on
duty/48 hour off duty work schedule.
Our Fire Suppression Service apparatus fleet consists of two
pumpers, two aerials, one ladder truck and two rescue trucks.
Our Emergency Medical Service fleet is made up of four frontline
Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and one Basic Life Support (BLS)
transport ambulance. These
units provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, and rescue
operations such as vehicle extrication and high angle rescue.
We also provide EMS and rescue to all of Franklin County, which
covers over 200 square miles and a population of approximately 50,000
people. Because Frankfort is
the State capital, many employees commute to Frankfort during the business
week, placing the population at almost 100,000 souls.
